14 May 2008: Top 10 Ways To Get an UpgradeWant to get more for your money when staying in hotels? An upgrade is the most rewarding and costs very little to a hotel, especially if the rooms are empty anyway. Upgrades are mostly handled on the day of arrival and subject to availability. Increase your chances by following our Top 10 tips ...1. Ask when booking - Hotels London can request this for you and will so automatically if you are a regular user. 2. Become a member of a hotel group or organisation where you can earn points or kudos when booking worldwide. 3. If the hotel is oversold in standard rooms and there are empty rooms in the higher categories like Executive, Superior or Suites. 4. Book last minute during quieter times. Ask again when arriving at reception. 5. Dressed smartly and be polite when requesting. Hotel staff like to please nice people. 6. Tell the hotel its a special occasion like birthday, anniversary or a surprise. Always let us know in the comments field when booking. 7. Always be willing to move rooms if something comes available later on during your stay and always let reception know this. 8. Arrive at the hotel early. Your chances of an upgrade decrease as people arrive to take their rooms as they may ask for an uprade. 9. Bring up a bad past experience at the hotel reception desk when checking in. No one likes a scene in the foyer of a hotel. 10. Be inconvenienced. If you have a problem with your room which is essential to your stay, let reception know it isnt good enough and ask for a higher spec room. Back to Blog |
